Public Consultation for WSH Guidelines for Combustible Dust

03 Feb 2025 Announcements

Solid combustible materials, when finely divided into dust form, can burn rapidly. Under specific conditions and at an optimal concentration, such combustible dust can pose an explosion hazard. The force from such explosions can cause fatalities, injuries, and structural damage.

The WSH Council, in collaboration with the Ministry of Manpower and key industry partners, has drafted the WSH Guidelines for Combustible Dust. These guidelines provide information on combustible dust hazards and offer guidance on identifying, evaluating, and controlling the risks of fires and explosions caused by combustible dust. It complements the Approved Code of Practice “Singapore Standard 667: 2020 – Code of practice for handling, storage and processing of combustible dust”.  These guidelines will apply to all workplaces specified in the WSH Act that handle, sort, pack, store, process, manufacture or use combustible dust.

We invite industry stakeholders and members of the public to share your feedback on the draft WSH Guidelines for Combustible Dust before it is finalised and published. Please email the completed public consultation form to contact@wshc.sg by 3 March 2025.

Your views and insights will shape the future of workplace safety and health in Singapore.
