Workplace Safety and Health Approved Codes of Practice Notification 2021

The Workplace Safety and Health (Approved Codes of Practice) Notification 2021 was published on the Government Electronic Gazette on 19 November 2021. This new Notification will be effective from 1 December 2021 and the Workplace Safety and Health (Approved Codes of Practice) Notification 2020 will be revoked accordingly.

The number of Approved Codes of Practice (ACOPs) will stand at 88.

The new additions are:
• SS 551: 2009 Code of practice for earthing
• SS 663: 2020 Code of practice for safe loading on vehicles (Formerly CP 30)
• SS 667: 2020 Code of practice for handling, storage and processing of combustible dust

The following ACOPs are updated to the latest revision: 

• SS 550: 2020 Code of practice for installation, operation and maintenance of electric passenger and goods lift
• SS 580: 2020 Code of practice for formwork
• SS 586: 2021 Specification for hazard communication for hazardous chemicals and dangerous goods Part 1: Transport and storage of dangerous goods
• SS 659: 2020 Code of practice for scaffolds
• Code of Practice on Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Risk Management – 2021 Revision

The following ACOPs were withdrawn: 
• SS 506: 2009 Occupational safety and health (OSH) management system Part 1: Requirements
• SS 506: 2009 Occupational safety and health (OSH) management system Part 2: Guidelines for the implementation of SS 506: Part 1: 2009
