Held on 18 March 2025 with the theme "Beyond Compliance in Working at Height", the Work at Heights Symposium 2025 shared the latest developments, best practices and technology on work at height (WAH) safety. Highlighting the importance of fostering a proactive safety culture, the Symposium showcased insights on enhancing safety through innovative approaches and leadership strategies.

In his opening address, Mr Abu Bakar Mohd Nor, Chairman of the WSH Council and WSH Council (National Work at Heights Safety) Taskforce, highlighted that over the years, falls from height has consistently been the second leading contributor to fatal injuries. With collective tripartite efforts, there was a significant improvement, with the number of fall from height fatalities falling, from 14 in 2015 to a 10-year low of four in 2024. Mr Abu Bakar called on the industry to remain vigilant to maintain this good standing.

At the Symposium, Mr Abu Bakar also witnessed the WSH Council signing a Memorandum of Understanding each with the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) to collectively co-create safe and healthy workplaces and solutions. The collaboration with SUTD will focus on driving technology and innovation to create impactful safety solutions to address real-world WSH challenges, while the partnership with SUSS seeks to drive behavioural and cultural advancements to create capability building programmes to improve safety behaviour.

The Symposium also saw guest speakers from the Ministry of Manpower sharing on inspection findings, and industry representatives on best practices and latest developments about WAH safety. Participants also visited the BuildTech Asia 2025, where a specially curated WAH Safety Experience Zone provided participants with hands-on demonstrations and insights into innovative safety technologies.
