The WSH Challenges & Smart Solutions Webinar 2020 for the Facilities Management industry was co-organised by the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council and Singapore International Facility Management Association on 4 December 2020. The webinar aimed at helping the industry place greater emphasis on workers’ health and safety and redesign the workplaces into a safer environment amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr Daniel T’ng, Co-Chairperson of the WSH Council (Facilities Management) Committee, reiterated the importance of WSH for workers, businesses and the community in his closing remarks, and urged all to continue to strive for higher WSH standards and performance for the industry through three strategies:
1. Looking after workers’ health and mental well-being, which will result in building a more productive workforce;
2. Taking ownership to ensure good WSH practices are upheld to prevent workplace accidents; and
3. Leveraging technology to eliminate or mitigate workplace risks, which will also benefit companies in terms of business continuity.
More than 200 participants attended the webinar with speakers sharing insights on the lessons learnt in managing WSH during the pandemic and the impact it has on the industry.
Many participants took part in the lively discussion during the Q&A with the panel of speakers. As part of the National WSH Campaign efforts, they also took a quiz to discover their personas at work, and how they can stay safe and healthy at their workplaces. Participants gave feedback that the topics and the training resources provided were a timely reminder for the industry especially during these challenging times.
