Due to the COVID-19 situation, this year’s WSH Awards 2020 was held in the format of a small Awards Presentation Ceremony in the morning for selected award recipients, and the launch of the WSH Awards 2020 Commemorative E-Book in the afternoon on 9 November.
Jointly organised by the WSH Council and the Ministry of Manpower, the WSH Awards 2020 recognises these award recipients for achieving WSH excellence and celebrates their leadership, commitment, and outstanding contributions to keeping more than 200,000 workers safe and healthy in 2019.
At the WSH Awards 2020 Presentation Ceremony, seven WSH Performance Awards winners from the Excellence and Gold categories were presented with the trophies by the Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Home Affairs Mrs Josephine Teo, and Senior Minister of State for Manpower Mr Zaqy Mohamad.
In the afternoon, the WSH Awards 2020 was launched online via an interactive Commemorative E-Book which opened with messages by Mrs Josephine Teo and the WSH Council Chairman Mr John Ng, followed by inspiring stories and quotes by 29 featured award recipients.
Mr John Ng said, “Although the pandemic has changed the way the WSH Awards is being organised this year, the WSH Council has harnessed the use of technology to continue providing recognition for those who have done well in WSH. Likewise, I would like to encourage more companies to remain resourceful in the face of this pandemic, explore new ways and leverage on technologies in promoting the adoption of good WSH practices across business communities.”
The e-book features writeups and videos of the award recipients who shared their journey towards ensuring the safety and health of their workers in the workplace as well as a showcase of all winning innovation projects. Companies can also browse through the full list of 190 award recipients for networking purposes to exchange WSH ideas and experiences to bring their company to the next level.
Towards the end of the e-book, a virtual photobooth also allows visitors to the Awards website to snap a photo of themselves which they can share with their colleagues and friends, and post on their social media channels.
Award recipients were also honoured for their efforts and achievements in a full-page print ad and a WSH Awards pull-out supplement in The Straits Times on 9 November 2020.
